LTSM Nursery

Alongside our specialists, the children enrolled at Grădinița Mea benefit from a safe and flexible academic environment, centred on respecting each child's individuality.

The early years programmes developed by Grădinița Mea integrate themes from the British curriculum (Early Years Foundation Stage) within the national curriculum framework for preschool education.

OBJECTIVES

Individual autonomy gives children confidence, shapes their self-esteem and helps them find solutions on their own.

At Grădinița Mea, children gain their autonomy step by step, guided by a few principles we apply every day:

We give the child time to try.
We let them choose and decide on their own, wherever they can.
We highlight even the smallest victories and offer measured support when an obstacle appears.
We encourage them to find solutions on their own, with discreet guidance from the adult.
We nurture a sense of usefulness through everyday routines: tidying up toys, getting ready for activities, personal hygiene.
We encourage them to express their own opinions and take the initiative to decide.
Any setback can become a victory, because we value effort, not performance.

CURRICULUM
Verbal expression We nurture correct and expressive speech, in both Romanian and English.
English language Children pick up English at a conversational level, understanding the meaning of what they say, alongside a British teacher, in two sessions per week.
The road to reading and writing We spark children’s interest in books through listening activities, conversation, guided reading and practising pre-literacy graphic elements. Reading and writing are then learned through Jolly Phonics, an interactive and multisensory method.
Pre-mathematical thinking We develop thinking skills and early mathematical operations: matching, sorting, counting and problem solving.
Exploring the environment We spark their curiosity about the world around them: children ask questions, experiment, observe, record, describe and draw conclusions, alongside a British teacher.
Visual arts Nurturing young children’s expressivity and creativity through visual arts language (FuntasTircks crafting activities, painting with conventional or unconventional tools, nature activities observing colours, light, shapes and textures).
Sound and music Building the ability to perceive and understand the world of sound and music, guided by a specialist teacher.
Cultural diversity Education for respect and acceptance of cultural diversity.

We help children build healthy routines around food and movement.

Self-knowledge Children develop an interest in getting to know themselves and a positive attitude towards themselves and others.
Emotions in the group They learn to express their emotions appropriately when interacting with other members of the group.
Getting ready for school They practise the skills and attitudes they will need in a school setting.
