International Academic Pathway

Liceul Teoretic Școala Mea approaches education from the perspective of preparing individuals for a global society, confident in their opinions, capable of proposing solutions and persuading others, respecting cultural or opinion differences, and promoting the principle of the five Is: Individuality, Identity, Integrity, Innovation, Internationalism.

High school education programmes develop functional competencies, essential for successful integration into the national or international university environment, through an educational programme centered on interdisciplinarity and performance.

Achieving Excellence Together

EDUCATIONAL AIMS

Inquiry-based learning empowers students to develop the research skills necessary for their intellectual growth. Liceul Teoretic Şcoala Mea encourages high school students to embrace reflective learning, which involves building their own system of analysis and creation. The ultimate goal is the achievement of intellectual autonomy alongside a comprehensive and complex acquisition of knowledge.

LTSM develops students’ capacity to process the information they acquire, helping them to identify, understand, and establish logical connections between ideas and their own lines of reasoning. We empower them to detect fallacies in arguments and debates, while enabling them to construct and perceive the underlying justifications for various opinions or beliefs.

The diversity of opinions and the respect for them is a principle that LTSM students embrace through exposure to various cultures, supported by our exchange and partnership programmes organized in collaboration with schools from different countries.

Liceul Teoretic Școala Mea aims to foster students’ entrepreneurial spirit through a diverse range of entrepreneurship education programmes:

  • Career Choices: a career counselling and guidance programme including:
    • Vocational counselling activities – interest and skills assessment, vocational testing, and individual counselling sessions;
    • “Future Job Experiences” – interactive work experience sessions across various fields: Debate, Technology, Literacy, Medical, and Media.
  • “My Parent, My Hero” – an entrepreneurship education programme involving parent participation;
  • Community-based learning programmes, through off-site activities supported by partners from various economic sectors (Financial education programmes supported by banking institutions, Volunteer Programmes, or Fundraising Events).

Social responsibility education guarantees the social integration of the student’s personality throughout their entire life. A vital component of this is moral education, which shapes personality through civic values such as autonomy, intrinsic motivation for action, human solidarity, and the valuing of integrity.

Cultural education provides awareness, knowledge, and competence, thereby fostering communication and cooperation within the community. Liceul Teoretic Școala Mea programmes utilise cultural and social concepts as indispensable elements in the instructional processes, as follows:

  • The Peer Mentoring programme and the Student Council – these are community cohesion programmes for LTSM students, through which they share educational and cultural experiences while initiating and practicing community leadership skills.
  • LTSM students are regularly involved in internal volunteering activities aimed at supporting charitable projects. These take place through traditional events such as: Drama Week, Cup of Good Hope, Christmas Fair, and the Talent Show.
  • Volunteering programmes in partnership with various economic stakeholders or cultural bodies are also expressions of social responsibility (e.g., the “Bucurie la cutie” project, educational conferences, etc.).
  • Assemblies, intercultural competitions, and the “Special Days” programme aim to promote LTSM values and respect for universal cultural values.
CURRICULUM

Liceul Teoretic Școala Mea offers its high school students a choice between a national study programme, a dual national and international programme, or an exclusively international study programme:

Admission Policy

The international section operates based on an admissions system designed to ensure that all applications throughout the year receive equal treatment, regardless of the child’s gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, culture, or religious beliefs. However, our admissions process is also intended to ensure that the educational system we promote and provide is the best fit for your child.

The structure of the upper secondary school:

  • 14+ years – Year 10
  • 15+ years – Year 11
  • 16+ years – Year 12
  • 17+ years – Year 13

First step

Parents interested in joining our school will have the opportunity to find out more about the school through the following sources: the school website, meetings with the Admissions Officer, school visits and meetings with the Head of School. It is very important that parents carefully read the policy on the website and ask questions for clarification during the visit and meetings with LTSM staff involved at this stage. To begin the application process, please complete the online application form. Once completed, the LTSM admissions team will contact you to support and guide you through the admissions process. We accept admissions throughout the school year.

Second step

Schedule an appointment
As a first step in the admission procedure, the Admissions Manager arranges a visit to the LTSM educational campus with the parents/legal representatives of the students, during which the Admissions Officer provides clients with comprehensive information about LTSM’s educational offer for the targeted enrollment segment (primary, middle, high school) and about LTSM’s support services related to the educational program
Please note that prior to viewing the LTSM educational campus, clients (parents, legal guardians of students) will sign a “Personal Data Processing Agreement”. This agreement will be filed/sent to the LTSM secretariat (contact@scoala-mea.com).
If no places are available, parents will be informed and placed on a waiting list (based on their written request) if they wish to be contacted by the school as soon as places become available.

Following this meeting, the parent or legal guardian of the child can express his/her intention to access the next specific stage of the admission process, namely the assessment of candidates.
In this respect, we would like to point out that enrolment for pupil assessment is facilitated once the parents have signed the document entitled “Agreement for assessment”. This form requires the parent or legal guardian of the child to agree to the general terms and conditions of enrolment at the school.

Third step

Parents must provide the following documents:
– Original medical letter from the family doctor and a copy of the vaccination record;
– Copy of the child’s birth certificate (copy of the child’s ID card or passport, if applicable);
– Copy of the parents’/legal guardians’ ID (passport);
– Copy of the report card from the previous school(s);
– Copy of the academic record from the previous school(s), if applicable;
– Other diplomas, certificates, or awards obtained by the child in the last two years;
– Contact details (email and phone) of the previous school(s) for obtaining a written reference (this will be handled by the LTSM school office);
– Two passport-sized photos of the child;
– Court ruling granting custody of the child to one parent/legal guardian (if applicable).

The evaluation process will take place provided the file is complete by the deadline set by the school. The school commits to completing the assessment of the application and inviting the child and parents for the next stages of the evaluation process within the announced timeframe. The evaluation process timeframe will depend on the number of applications at that time and may take up to four weeks.

The purpose of the evaluation process is to identify the child’s academic achievements and potential, English language proficiency, and attitude towards learning and development. We seek well-prepared students who have a genuine interest in education in its broadest sense, with interests that extend beyond the academic curriculum.

Specifically, the evaluation process will consider the following criteria:
– Academic skills and potential;
– Work ethic and attitude toward school;
– General behavior and attitude toward a structured learning environment;
– Compatibility of the student and family with the school’s ethos, philosophy, and values.

Entry Assessments:

Year 10-11

The student will take a standardized cognitive abilities test to identify their strengths and weaknesses and may be asked to complete additional written work depending on the subjects chosen. They will also have an interview with the Head of Secondary School to determine if the school is a good fit for them.

An English language assessment will be used, as all formal Cambridge exams starting in Year 10 (except modern foreign languages) will be in English. Ideally, the English proficiency level for students applying to Years 10-12 should be advanced.

Entry Requirements for Internal Students:
For students who have completed 8th grade at LTSM, admission can be based on:
– 5.00 in the Checkpoint exams and/or 9.00 – 10.00 in the National Assessment/ or at least two scores in the CAT4 test that exceed the school population average.

Entry Requirements for External Students:
External students at LTSM will be eligible for admission if:
– 5.00 in the Checkpoint exams and/or 9.00 – 10.00 in the National Assessment/or at least two scores in the CAT4 test that exceed the school population average,

AND

1. They have at least a PET diploma in English;

Entry Assessments for Year 12-13:
The applicant must have completed the IGCSE/GCSE exams with at least a B grade in the subjects they will continue at AS and A Level. If certificates are not available at the time of application, mock exams will be considered. After submitting certificates or mock exams, students will have an interview with the Head of Secondary.

The evaluation fee is a non-refundable fee of 400 euros.
LTSM reserves the right to refuse a potential student’s enrollment if:

– It is determined during the enrollment process that there is no compatibility between the student and the school;
– The special educational needs required by the student cannot be met;
– The level of English does not meet the required standards;
– The student and parents do not agree with the school rules and do not adhere to the school values;
– Any other reason deemed valid by the school.

If several students apply for a limited number of available places in the respective year group, LTSM will use the stages of the enrollment process as a selection method based on the criteria outlined above.
LTSM’s decision regarding the admission or rejection of a student is final and cannot be appealed.

Fourth Step

The school will inform the parents of the results of the enrollment process, whether the application is eligible or not, within the timeframe set by the school.

The school reserves the right to notify parents if the test results and/or document analysis indicate that there may be a lack of compatibility with the school’s offer in terms of ethos, curriculum, and the educational system provided.

Fifth Step

Provided that the enrollment is eligible, parents are invited to the school to sign the Parent-School Contract and pay the deposit within the timeframe set by the school (5 calendar days).

If the documents are not signed within the specified timeframe, the school reserves the right to offer the place to another student, and the enrollment fee will not be refunded.

The child will be considered enrolled in the school only when the contract is signed by both parties and the enrollment deposit has been paid and confirmed within the set timeframe.
